Friday, September 18, 2015, the people of Edmonton took to the streets to celebrate PARK(ing) Day Edmonton. PARK(ing) Day is an international event where citizens transform urban metered parking spots in temporary mini parklets.
This year, PARK(ing) Day Edmonton was co-organized by The Drawing Room in partnership with the City-Region Studies Centre and CityLab. The event brought together artists, politicians, academics, community activists, city planners, and youth to rethink how urban space might be used to celebrate Edmonton’s rich history and diverse population.
City-Region Studies Centre was in the centre of the action, exploring parklets and art installations and chatting with participants. The following series of photos captures our experience.
